Investigation Results of KreditPlus Find Data Theft Efforts

JAKARTA – PT Finansial Multi Finance or KreditPlus confirmed that there were attempts to steal customer data. This was revealed after the company conducted an internal investigation of the leakage of consumer data on internet forums.

“The results of our interim investigation show that unauthorized third parties have stolen data related to KreditPlus consumer information,” said KreditPlus Director Peter Halim in his official statement, Wednesday, August 5.

KreditPlus stated that they immediately investigated the internal system after news emerged that their customer data was leaked. After this internal investigation, they found that there was data theft. Peter said they are currently using the services of an external cybersecurity consultant to further investigate the alleged leaked data.

The company has not yet stated whether the breached data totaled around 896,000 as appeared in the news. “The investigation process by the external cyber security consultant is still ongoing,” said Peter.

“KreditPlus is also working with the authorities in these investigations to ensure that consumers’ personal data is safe and protected”.

KreditPlus promised to immediately report this incident to the National Cyber ​​and Sanitation Agency (BSSN). The company also said it continues to invest in improving security on the platform. Regarding the protection of customer data, KreditPlus has implemented a layered security system in the form of a code one-time password (OTP).

Information circulating in cyberspace about 896,000 CreditPlus customer data is traded on dark sites, the information taken by hackers is in the form of names, ID cards, e-mails, passwords, cellphone numbers, work data and family data of the guarantor.

Cybersecurity expert from CISSRec, Pratama Persadha, stated that there were 819,976 KreditPlus data leaks, which were sensitive and complete data. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology on Tuesday (3/8) stated that it had sent a letter to KreditPlus asking for an explanation of the alleged leaked data.
